5120x1440 at 240hz is 53.08 Gbps. I used the calculator here.

8k 30hz is 29.86 Gbps.

DP 1.4 is 32.4 Gbit/s.

With those numbers, how is the G9 even being driven from a PC directly?

Are my passthrough/vfio dreams using the new DP 1.4 KVM (when I receive) dead if I get this monitor?

Side note… the DP 1.2 dual monitor has been a champ with 2k/144hz for years now.

The G9 used display port compression to get that refresh rate. I am not sure on the AMD side but a 2000 or newer Nvidia GPU is required to get required hardware to unlock 240hz. (sad 1080ti owner who had to wait 5 months to finally get a 3000 series card…)
