Samsung 840 evo firmware problems

So I made a bit of an impulse buy with this SSD during black Friday (it was pretty cheap). Didn't notice that it had firmware problems until I started reading a bit about the SSD. I haven't received it yet and I may return it, but I wanted to know other peoples experience with the SSD. I know Samsung has released a tool that supposedly fixes the problem but I'm skeptical on even bothering to use an SSD that I know has an existing problem. It does seem to perform pretty well though.

Has any one tried the tool and fixed their problems by any chance? Is it worth keeping?

Used it, it does fix the problem significantly. If you are still uncomfortable you can still change it.

I have it in my laptop. I did not encounter/notice problems with it, but I used the fix anyway and still I notice nothing. All good, but YMMV

I bought it even though I heard the problem with the EVO, just flashed the SSD firmware after purchasing is and not problem at all.

Cold boot to all startup item loaded in about 25 second, would be less if I didn't have to put in my pin.

It has a problem thats been fixed. If you're not sure then definitely return it, no point keeping something your not happy with, but the update seems to fix the problem. Old files on my computer are being read at the usual speed 470-500~MB/s same as newer files.
