What are your takes on this? I never viewed it as wrong, but I guess if it breaks there isn't a good RMA system. So, would you ever buy a new computer part from ebay?
I wouldn't, unless it is significantly cheaper. I'd just go with a trusted carrier.
Of course, I've bought/sold hundreds of used and new parts on ebay. Only once did I have a problem, a seller never sent me the part. Ebay was quick to refund me.

What Cyberdemon said, trusted sellers. I only buy if they have a 98% and over.
I don't mind paying more for a product with a proper reciept and knowing I get a new one if the one I receive isnt in it's supposed state.
What about used items, I know im going to get a lot of flack for this, but I was just looking at an auction that just reached 20.50 for a radeon 6850 that was pulled out of a dell workstation. I mean 20 bucks isnt much at all and this user has a 96.5% positive rating.
ebay is safe... if the item doesnt show up, you get a refund. make sure you use paypal, as they too have a good policy.
i have bought and sold on ebay, never had a problem.
I'm always very careful on ebay. often when something says 'new', chances are it's used, but only a few weeks old. This has happened to me so many times, especially when buying 'new' phones.
I'll call up the carrier to give them the ESN, and they tell me it's been activated 2-3 times before. I then file a claim and have to go through a long process of getting my money back.
