The plastic stand offs for my vrm waterblock kept slipping during install. I'm going to remove the waterblock soon, since it has poor contact. The fact it was so hard to keep those standoffs in place is part of the reason preventing me from having good mounting pressure.
I tried using thermal grizzly to glue the standoffs on, but while it made them stick to the posts they would still shift around. Does anyone know of any adhesives that aren't conductive, and will hold up under heat? The last thing I need is super glue melting, and dripping on my motherboard.
If you don't go half and half you can potentially rip off components when trying to remove so yeah... just do what I suggested, half thermal paste half adhesive use a hair dryer or heat gun if you ever need to remove it.
Edit: just realized you meant to glue the stand offs I thought you meant to glue the block to the surface. ... I'm a derp. Gorilla glue would work fine it's got a high tolerance for heat.
The EK blocks. They're really good for flow. It's just annoying dealing with the stand offs for the mobo blocks. Next motherboard I picked up is going to have the waterblocks pre-installed, probably a Rampage VI extreme.
Jb weld and similar products are overpriced and worthless, flour and water should do a good enough job and just mix in some powdered gold for better thermal properties
I just ended up rubbing some thermal paste on the spacers, and sticking them to the motherboard. The only issue is my vrms are running at 45 c, on stock settings. I just can't seem to get the correct mounting pressure.
