Sabertooth 990FX vs. Asus Crosshair V Formula Z

So as the title says, I'm not sure which of these mobos to buy.

I'm going to be using an AMD fx8350 and intend on trying some overclocking too, but other than that it will be just a gaming and everyday use machine. (plan to use some music making software in the near future too)

I was initially going to get the Sabertooth but thanks to these forums I've managed to save a fair bit of money on other parts so now that leaves me with a bigger budget for the mobo and totally confused between these two boards.

One of the reasons I'm now conisidering the Crosshair V is that it has sound stuff included with it. Every pc or laptop I've previously owned has had some kind of sound card, and I don't know if it would make a difference not having one this time.

Right now there's about a £20 difference so the price difference isn't an issue for me.

Any advice on which one to choose would be great!

Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ (£110) i see no  reason to over spend on a Sabertooth or a Crosshair V Formula Z for everyday use the M5A99FX PRO is a very capable mobo for overclocking.

There is a video here where logan overclocked a FX8350 to 5ghz with it. http://youtu.be/4et7kDGSRfc

Allso buying a sound card if you make music is going to be better than any onboard sound gimmicks you will find on motherboards.

+1

It's all bells and whistles

if you are going into audio stuff i would go for the crosshair V formula Z. because of its great sound chip. But the sabertooth als also a great choice in my opinion. both boards have 8+2 powerphase and digi vrm. so that should be all oke.

The Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0 is also a good budget board, but it contains les powerphases. if you can afford a it i would go with the Asus Crosshair V formula Z because of its sound chip. and great color theme.

Before you settle on the crosshair just know that is still uses the built in realtek audio. It does sound ok. But its just ok. You will still get your moneys worth with an addon card like a creative or asus sonar card.

The thing that sets the crosshair soundwise is only that they isolated the audiochip on the board so you won't get any interference with the rest of the board. Its still just realtek.

Never been a realtek fan ever the lows are washed out and the highes become tinny if you try to mess with the EQ.
