4 minutes and 51.06 seconds on an Intel i3 M370 @ 2.4GHz using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
"Reportedly, a multi-threaded run of benchmarking tool Cinebench R15 was completed on the Ryzen 7 1800X cooling at 5.2 GHz, achieving a score of 2449, beating the previous world record of 2410"
Austin Evans had to reupload his video because it covered that ... and it shouldn't have.
Wow, my 4930k is jealous. Thought it would hold it's own more. LOL
Now that we have proper Linux benchmarks it really starts to become obvious how powerful Ryzen is.
Those R7s are 30% faster than my 5930K. Sure, they have 25% more threads but I'm running mine at a 15-ish % higher clock speed. That's some serious IPC.
Have you tried the 4.10 kernel yet to see how much of a difference that makes? If not would you mind giving it a try?
I have heard that using this scheduler https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_Fuck_Scheduler should actually give nice improvements since the main problem at this moment is the OS scheduler with Ryzen CPUs. ;-)
I've tried on it kernel 4.11 and there isn't really much if any difference between the scores, some times its slightly faster others its slower than the previous score I posted.
Its not got anything to do with performance in gaming.
Or much at all for that matter
Just shy of 21 seconds? Gawd damn. My 4930k was at 37 seconds, that CPU is a beast.
It is a damn good CPU for the money, It replaced my 4690K which was at 49 seconds in this render. I could possibly get even more performance out of this CPU as I can likely get at least 3.9GHz but I need to install my NH-D15 before I try anymore overclocking as I'm still using the stock cooler. I still needed to use my Z97 system while I was setting up Ryzen and never removed the cooler but soon I'll replace the NH-D15 on the Z97 with my H80i GT and put the Noctua on my R7 1700.
No kidding. I plan to use my 4930k for another year, maybe 2 if it doesn't fail on me before then.
If AMD is able to keep this momentum in the years moving forward, they will be my next CPU purchase for sure.
I installed Blender 2.78b on Fedora 25 on my 4790K @4.6 GHz and I got 35.36 seconds on my first attempt with Firefox and everything else still open in the background. Compared to @MichaelLindman's 21 seconds, I feel like this is good enough for me right now. Maybe I can squeeze some more performance out of my chip, if I improve the cooling (currently a 120mm AIO).
