Just to help out with the Freesync monitor choice:
AMD have been quite nice to present us with a HUGE LIST of monitors, speciffically stating the interface of each one. The list is not complete though. There are some models missing, such as LG 22MP68VQ-P (also available in 23", 24" and 27"), that supports HDMI… Still it’s an enormous help.

Another option is this HUGE list of all Freesync compatible monitors. There is no distinction of interface dough, so you may have to look for compatibility yourselves…

Nice job adding quarterlies into the title of the video. Because things can change pretty drastically within half a year.

I know this is a video about the 2400G, but I think the Ryzen 2200G is one of the best values on the market right now. Especially at the $99.00 price point. But, the 2400G seems like a better option for people looking for a longer lifespan with upgrade possibilities to a discrete GPU.

I think the R3 would be best for people looking to build a dirt cheap alternative to a set-top box and an entertainment hub, while the R5 has a little more room to expand in a desktop environment.

From what I have seen, these CPU’s are getting close to I5 and I7 Kaybe Lake performance, which is crazy, because those CPU’s are roughly only two years old. Having a Vega GPU core built into the APU is nice in itself. It’s nice to see some competition in the CPU market again. Things were stagnating pretty badly.

I agree about the 2400G, as well as in performing actual computing tasks SMT will help a lot.

FWIW the Gigabyte AB350N-Gaming WiFi (mITX board) has DP and HDMI and makes for a really small system. I’ll be finishing up my build today in fact.

@wendell

Just a quick tip on the camera… the dancing focus is nauseating.

The camera’s focus is prolly going nuts because it’s set on “center focus” and your face is just on the edge of the area it can lock on. Try looking through the focus settings to look for alternatives like “feature locking” or “focus points”. Heck, if you’re not moving around just put it in manual or “AF-Single”.

Sadly no, it was set on face focus and was tracking my face for this whole video. We were testing the gh5 autofocus fix and it seemed good with hardware and we forgot it was on. The shot I like is to go from desk shot to close up of individual pieces and the autofocus fix worked for that. be
This reshot twice was it is and the non face follow was way way worse if you can believe it.

I think this has to do with having focus sensitivity abd lock on params not quite what they should be for the autofocus hack.

Been recommending the 2400G to all the people who are moaning about their laptop beeing slow and GPUs beeing expensive.
Same way of thinking: A little more GPU horsepower and SMT will help longevity of the machine.

Regarding the video:
What is the title of the music that playes during the benchmark numbers?

And you might want to try manual or multi point focus on the camera. It seemed to be going out of focus at times.

If I get the B350M motherboard in the future, would it still need a bios upgrade? Does that mean I would need a ryzen processor to do the upgrade? Probably not but I don’t have much experience with these things so I thought I’d ask.

This depends on when it went into the box really. If you happen to get an old stock board yes, it will need a newer BIOS flashed.

AMD is also sending out kits with a potato APU so customers who don’t have access to support can do this, but I suspect most of the old stock boards will be eaten up soon enough that this won’t be a big concern.

I ordered my B350 board right as the 2200G/2400G were being released and it came with the “Ryzen 2000 Ready” sticker on it and booted right up. If you’re buying in person as opposed to online just make sure it has that sticker and you’re good.

huh… that is sad indeed.

If you can’t get the params correct, perhaps just set the focus manually?

Easier if its in a google spreadsheet as you can then apply filters

only ones that appeal to me will be the ones that have the widest freesync ranges

e.g 30 - 144 or 40 to 144
