RTX 3090 is confirmed as a SKU, GDDR6X looks awesome, HBM2e -> HBMnext

https://www.anandtech.com/show/15978/micron-spills-on-gddr6x-pam4-signaling-for-higher-rates-coming-to-nvidias-rtx-3090

Micron spilled the beans that at RTX 3090 SKU will exist with GDDR6x that will use QDR signaling with PAM4 encoding for even more bandwidth.

HBMnext will succeed HBM2e

I wouldn’t be surprised if HBMnext takes the PAM4 encoding + QDR of GDDR6X and applies it to HBMnext for even more crazy speeds.

That’s going to be bonkers how much faster the next version of HBM can be once you apply QDR & PAM4 encoding.

The future is looking very awesome for GPU tech.

If my napkin math is correct:

HBM2e = 217.6 GB/s per stack
HBMnext = 400.8 GB/s per stack just by applying QDR & PAM4 with barely changing any other parameter alone.

That could be BONKERS fast =D

If you add in more layers into the stack, that would just get faster.

Holy SHIT!!! at the speeds.
