RPM distros causing white screen

So this is what happens when I use RPM based distros on my laptop, this is running openSUSE at the time, its an old image, anyways I want to use something like Fedora on my laptop so how do I actually fix this issue? Is it a driver issue?

Thanks

It must be a known issue if it's typical for RPM distros. Just search fedorapeople or something.

That being said, is it possible that it's typical for KDE maybe? And have you tried with a fc20 distro?

If you're on AMD, you have to use KMS drivers in RPM based distros, as RedHat has a deal with nVidia to block all access to AMD innovation, so they orphaned Catalyst. Thanks to that nice piece of crap attitude, AMD is now moving onto open source kernel modules for Catalyst to make RedHat eat crow.

Fc21rawhide is the only operating system in the world right now that supports AMD HSA, and the results are so spectacular, that they have to hide it away from everybody. This goes very far, in that they even sabotage their own rawhide repos so that people can't fedup to fc21rawhide from a standard install. If you want to see it, you have to compile it. Pretty sad the way US companies do business. I can't imagine that the engineers and devs that actually make the products, agree with those policies. Remind me, why are big US corporations lead by dilettante company legals, sacrosanct accounting forgers and marketing creeps again?

Yeah I remember this, but you got to think of it in a good way, the fact that Red Hat are been dicks makes AMD force open source, which then means community and company can combine and make a super beast driver, a mix of Mesa/KMS and Catalyst would absolutely crush Nvidia and be a rather good laugh at Red Hat, I see AMD doing good things with open source, Just look at their ARM octo CPUs, I believe they will be brilliant for server environments :)

Anyways I may go F20, I dont have HSA on my CPU as far as I know which is a shame but to be honest this little thing is fast enough and its only a second PC I use on a weekend so its not of major importance, but its not used enough for Rawhide as I need to be updating daily.

Anyways I also hear good things about the open source drivers of recent, on par with Catalyst and the games I play on here are not that demanding so it does not bother me about 100% performance.

Thanks also Ill try setup the KMS driver in Fedora and see if that fixes anything and report back :)
