Routers for gaming

Hey guys I think you need to do a video on Router reviews. I have used Linksys, netgear and cisco/linksys routers. I started out with the oldschool Linksys wireless g, upgraded to a netgear wireless N router. I thought it was amazing with QOS options and bandwith control. As of the right now I am using the DSL router that my ISP gave me. Its a Sagemcom. It does everything I need it to do. Really wish my cable company would get an upgrade all they offer is 6meg internet. Cable company is owned by the city and is considered apart of the utilities commission. Luckily I life 2 blocks from Phone company distribution center. I am able to get 12 meg. I could get 20meg theoretically but they don't offer that type of speed. Back to routers and away from my rant on internet speeds that are offered in my lowly back woods Kentucky town. I seen a router review on Youtube. He was reviewing the Netduma R1. The reviewer played 2 games and said it worked amazing blah, blah, blah. He did not show any statistics to back it up. If Logan and Wendel could do a review on this router and a few of the newer routers that would be awesome.

Pretty much anything will work well with gaming these days.  Just go on Amazon, search for routers, and sort by average customer review.  Keep in mind that if you're replacing what your ISP gave you you'll need to either get a modem and a router, or a modem/router combo.  If what you have is working and not causing problems then you may be better off just keeping what they gave you.  I've heard that DSL companies have trouble with third party modems, but maybe that's just their way of keeping you hooked on their stuff.

I have the ASUS RT-AC66u and I love it. I would say that we have a pretty good load going on in our house. At any given time my wife and I are normally on our PCs playing games online while our son is watching a movie in the living room and his bedroom and on his kindle. I haven't noticed any lag or anything. The most loaded down we have had it was when our roommate was living with us and we took in a family of 3 for a few months. So at one time there was 6 smartphones 6 tablets 5 pc/laptops and 4 playstation/xboxs all playing games. To make it simple I love mine it has performed well.

**note, this was on the standard 2.4ghz band as I never bothered setting up the 5ghz.**

I would never game on wifi. Always Eth.

But if I HAD to,

5GHz/ Dual Band would be the next best thing (if powerline isn't an option either)

MIMO helps too. if your device/console supports it.

I have one too, only cons is it runs very hot. 50-60c. Also glad they finally gotten some routers to do gigabit when on gigabit and don't get slowed down by the 100Mbit broadband internet that most N routers suffers back in 2008-10.
