Router Overheating From Netflix

Hey Tek Syndicate! I just got Netflix last month and my family has been using it a fair bit. Since then I have had my Gateway overheat twice on me and it has recently shut off in the middle of the day, Also at that time that it is under the heaviest load. I have a D-Link DVA G3810BN. The problem is is that it is a "Gateway" instead of a router so I can't run out and buy a different one and all of my problems will dissapear. Is there anyway for me to get a more stable connection? Or potentially cool it?

I've had a major overheating problem with the UBEE routers from Time Warner. Use a laptop cooler

I have Telus and I also live in Canada. Should a laptop cooler fix all my issues?
