Rooting Fire HD 7 and installing a custom ROM

I Received a Fire HD 7 from Amazon for christmas. I soon realized that it was a decent little tablet for the money but the amazon operating system is simply horrible. I have done some research on how to root this type of tablet, but ran into the issue that if I don't do it with with the right software it could turn into a worthless paperweight. The Fire HD 7 that I have is the 4th Generation running Fire OS 4.5.2, I believe it goes by the name sangria. I want to root it and run something like cyanogenMod.

This is not the Tate or soho version.

Unfortunitely this is not possible as Fire OS 4 removed all exploits. I'm currently using the Thor, and it sucks that I can't root it. The bootloader only supports safe strap so don't try anything with flashing via fast boot. I side load apps on to my device as to make the best of it. Merry Christmas. I feel this something to be brought up at XDA.

Yeah, as I feared. This would be a decent device if I could root it. Now i'm stuck with the decision, wait it out until maybe someday a method is found, or just sell it and put that money into another tablet.

I appreciate the input, and Merry Christmas

I know it's risky as the device never received Fire OS 3, but try contacting Amazon stating that the *update* to Fire OS 4 has been causing errors. They may initiate a rollback to Fire OS 3, however the factory image would have to ported from a Thor. Just a long shot.
