So this thread is somewhat in response the the latest tek where logan asked for roguelike games and just to let people find more roguelikes.
My current favorite roguelike would of course be dwarf fortress, it has one of the highest learning curve in any game I've seen but i hope people will give it a try.
I have not heard of a lot of roguelikes and would really like to see more.
The are some roguelikes that I've come across. Most of these are pretty well known but just to get the thread started :D Some of these are action roguelikes but I don't like to get into details with the naming conventions.
The Binding of Isaac is awesome with a huge community. The game is a bit buggy but is endless fun.
FTL (faster than light) I don't know if this really classifies as a roguelike but it is turnbased randomness and a hell of a lot of fun.
Nuclear Throne is really action oriented and I haven't played it much, but it's by a Dutch company so I gotta have it in here. It's in early access but already pretty good.
Rogue Legacy is a cool title which I think of the titles in the list is actually the least like a roguelike. You keep your upgrades for starters. Also it is randomly generated, but more or less feels the same. Still good for 30+ hours for me so pick it up if you are interested.
Spelunky is more of an adventure game but definitely has roguelike elements. Even though you pretty much every run end up with the same upgrades, the difficulty on this is definite roguelike-like. Amazing exploration fun.
Sword of the stars: the pit is a pretty traditional roguelike, turnbased and extremely hard. A little too hard for my taste since most games you are just unable to even have a chance to progress at some point. At least in most other games you have a theoretical chance of making it. A little to hard for me to get in to tbh.
I very much love the genre and would like to hear more titles and suggestions. I should check out dwarf fortress.
It's a turn based survival roguelike rpg set in a low fantasy, iron-age Finland. It's got basic graphics and it's rather hard. Good luck surviving your first encounter with a: Bear, Raider (Njerpez) or your first winter.
It's made by one guy and recently it's gone free to play, supported with donations like Dwarf Fortress. It's available for Windows, Linux and Hipster.
If you like Adventure mode in DF you should check it out
