So guys, I’m having a problem, as I described on the tin here. The thing is, I’m sure my MB supports multiple storage options, but is the error cause by the drive being an old enterprise SAS drive? I’ve got an adapter, which is passive? I think? could that be the problem?? Any advice would be great. When it tells me to hit del or F2, it does nothing. Totally locked on splash screen. This is time sensitive, because I’m about to lose my internet, so I’m trying to download as many games as possible.
SAS is a different protocol to SATA, and even runs at a different voltage. So you need a chipset that is designed to work with SAS, which most SATA chipsets are not. Sorry to tell you that won’t get that drive working on your motherboard without adding a SAS controller via PCIe.
Though it is true that most (but not all) SAS RAID cards can accept SATA drives.

Find the closest store, buy a USB HDD, and start downloading like crazy.
well money is an issue. This drive was 30 bucks on Ebay, wish I knew about the chipset earlier. If you’ve got a card like you stated for cheap or reasonable, let me know! Right now I’m listing parts on Jawa.gg out of desperation, maybe I can scrape together enough $$ to keep the net on. ![]()
