Rocksmith 2014 remastered

A friend gave me this as a gift. I bought a 1/4" - USB cord thinking that it would work just fine. I didn’t realize that Ubisoft was the developer of this game, and they require one of THEIR cords to make this game work. I have scoured the internet and cannot find a solution. There used to be a fix, but the new version of Rocksmith broke the fix.
Does anyone know how to play Rocksmith 2014 Remastered with a non-proprietary cable?

My OS is Winblows 10.

Thanks, I have seen this. The thig about the instructions are that I don’t see a settings.xml file where the article says it should be, so it does not help.
