Wow. I just heard a report on NPR about his new album like yesterday. I didn't know about his fight with cancer, so this is really surprising to hear.
This is truly sad. As it is anytime we hear of a great person passing away.
John Donne, said it better than anyone else can.
"No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee. "
RIP David Bowie.
Labyrinth :)
More of our 1970's rock idols seem to be passing-on :(
Yeah its sadd RiP
His latest album was just released under 3 days ago. There were ads on the album everywhere, exciting all the people. And now this? This year is off with a bad, bad start. Goodnight sweet prince.
so sad.... may he rest in peace in the rock n roll heaven
Please don't be sad. Everybody passes eventually. David Bowie lived a full and rewarding life entertaining us with his art. He lived 10 times the life that most of us will get to experience.
I prefer to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. It's not a happy day, but I'm happy we had him around for as long as we did. He blazed new trails, lead the way and kept reinventing himself. A true artistic genius! R.I.P.
I saw Bowie in concert twice. The first time was during the Serious Moonlight (Let's Dance) tour. That was pretty cool. Even better was when I saw him at the Meadowlands (NY Giants stadium). He had a mind blowing multimedia setup. For most of the concert he had the stage setup like a giant TV. There was a translucent curtain / projection screen separating him from the band behind the screen. Most memorable was when he sang a duet with a 30 foot version of himself on screen.
If there is a heaven, there's one hell of a gig going on there right now.
Oh my god this sucks. Cancer sucks. Why the hell can't we cure it yet.
Somehow, to some degree, this must have something to do with the RIAA. Yeah, I'm gonna blame the RIAA.
:(
I know this was probably at least a half joke, but "cancer" is a really weird big medical term that covers a range of diseases. It'd be like "curing" the flu.
69 is pretty long for a guy who lived "like a rock star"
RIP
