They're both similarly priced. So I'm wondering which would be better? If I get a Tiamat 7.1 I'll probably end up getting a Gigabyte Sniper board so I can have some clean, good Audio. I've never used a True 5.1 or True 7.1 headset before, any difference?
And Logan If you see this, I'd possibly like to see you guys Review the Roccat Kave 5.1 XTD. I trust your guys' opinion.
Don't really know what headset, but why a sniper motherboard instead of a soundcard?
I'd grab a nice pair of headphones and a mic rather than a headset.
A Gigabyte G1 Sniper because of the audio features and lower impedance. Not to mention I'm going to up grade my CPU and GPU here soon and not buying a sound card saves me money.
Honestly though, I'll probably pick up a Razer Kraken 7.1. I just need the portability and the mic. After the virtual barbershop, I figured I don't need a true surround sound headset. I tried a logitch headset, and I hated it. Razer is better. lol.
The Tiamat and the Kave are ridiculously overpriced. You'll be better off getting some decent Audio-Only headset and a Modmic or something. I've owned Roccat headphones before (the earlier Kave model) and it broke after a little more than a year, right after the warranty ended. If it's about having the surround for games like counterstrike: Get open back headphones. They allow you to pinpoint you enemies incredibly well. Generally Razer designs a cool looking headset, names it Gaming FTW 7.1 Ulta Kill Skill and charges 200 $. Only that the quality isn't quite enhanced by all this. Most Razer Products are excellent but when it comes to sound I recommend steering clear of ALL the gaming hardware brands.
Rosewill has a couple of good options. If you want some really good sound quality, get the Rosewill Sonas Headphones. I own a pair and they do excellent with gaming. One of the cables that come with the Sonas headphones does have an intergrated microphone. It works fairly decent, but you'll have to max out the volume and activate the +20DB microphone boost. Then you are set to go. They aren't that expensive either.
I think in the pricerange he is moving in he can do much better when it comes to sound quality. Especially with the microphone. I personally find the Rosewill to be a Beats ripoff(also sound wise), which is quite bizarre. Who would willingly build headphones with the goal of creating shitty audio in mind. Maybe some Sennheiser G4ME Series Headpsets will do. If they HAVE to be gaming headphones. At least Sennheiser knows how to build decent headphoens and microphones.
I turned in the Razer Kraken 7.1. It was a peice of crap! My God the directional audio was horrible!!! I turned that in and got the Kave 5.1 XTD. And as much as I love that, I think the best value on the market for headsets is the Kingston Hyper X Cloud. Honestly, the directional quality on that is almost as good as my Roccat Kave 5.1. How ever, the sound quality sounds much better. I was looking for directional audio though, so I'm not disappointed with my purchase. I would however, if I had to make another purchase, buy the Kingston Hyper X Cloud headset, due to features. Like the fact that if you have a good sound card, you'll have even better sound!!!
From all the reviews I read, the kave 5.1 is good. I am a fan of 5.1 headsets as well. the true directional audio cant be beat by virtualized. I have a chinese headset that is actually really good, but I dont think its available in the states.
