Rise of the Triad Framerate Problems

Hey guys, the title basically says it all. I am having framerate problems on Rise of the Triad. I can basically max out Crysis 3 with my GTX 770, but I play Rise of the Triad on low settings in 1280x720, and can't get any higher than 45 FPS with major FPS drops.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. My specs are much lower than yours (6850) and I'm getting about the same performance. And now I'm crashing ever time I join a sever.

I'm getting the same issue :(

It doens't make sense to me... how good can the graphics of this game get? I can get a higher resolution on flipping Crysis 3...

what CPU are you on ram? (yup, my hardware is half asleep aswell in the game)

I'm using an FX 6200, but still, that beats the recommended settings...

I have massive fps drops when I get god mode. I do have the game maxed out, but my rig should definitely handle it. I have 2 gtx 670s in SLI, 3570k cpu.

I wonder if there will be a tweak guide. I wonder is physx is killing performance or maybe dynamic shadows, etc. Physx usually seems to suck on most games.

There is a tweak guide on the community page in steam, but even after following it, i haven't noticed much difference.

It does! But most amd's seem to be at a serious handicap when the multicore efficiency is ... well ... non existent

(as gamebrakr already mentioned in his tread)

I was actually beginning to wonder if my 4 year old rig was up to the task, but then i had to keep reminding myself...it's a DX9 game.

(Rig specs on my profile)

I'm relieved to hear my machine isn't the only one with Framerate Issues, I did some rooting around in the config files myself after seeing this game stutter after getting past the Shooting gallery in 1-2.

Here's what i've tried:Installing on a 2nd Hard disk(Not the OS Drive).

Options changed: (effect)
Allow OpenGL(Black Screen nothing happening)
Memory pool options from 512 to 1024

Everything set on ludicrous except AA and minimal Anisotropic filtering.(Playing @ 1920x1080)

Shadow settings set to lower settings

These seemed to relieve the stutter for a little bit but didn't last long

I'm gonna look into more things later, though i'm guessing there could be a memory leak, (seen it happen with Firefox), also gonna look at stuff which affects overall system performance: C&Q/C1E, Power Management, Core Parking......

Hope i'm not appearing to waffle here.

Btw: Really enjoyed the game on your server lastnight, will have to do that again, Logan and you guys are definate Ass Kickers, i'm kinda rusty

Right, directx 9. I completely forgot about that, good point. I never got full gpu usage on dx9 games with my 7970.
