RISC vs CISC

This battle raged in the 90's for the desktop. In Moore's autobiography Only the Paranoid Survive he spent some time on this battle. CISC won and that was that.

Then came smart phones and tablets. Laughed at by serious gamers in much the same way the PC was laughed at and many at IBM thought the PC was to be a huge blunder. RISC seems to dominate this market so far.

Found a great article that even a truck driver can understand:)
https://cs.stanford.edu/people/eroberts/courses/soco/projects/risc/risccisc/

Next is one that goes into more detail, The comments section is notable in that they highlight and expand on the subjct and are as informative as the article itself.

Third is a paper for people smarter then me, after one paragraph my head hurt:)

There is a bunch of stuff on Quora and another article that puts the issue in perspective. No idea how this will turn out and I can't recall any article on Windows vs OS/2 predicting Linux taking over the world via Android. There was an earlier thread asking about this. Hopefully this answers that. No one predicted the 8088 would be IBM's path to becoming the cash register king.
