Rig for gaming! HELP

Hi Guys!

Im making a build for gaming! and i can't decide between this two rigs, need sugestions!

Important: * NOT GOING TO OVERCLOCK OR SLI*

I made this build mainly for gaming and multi tasking!

Haswell RIG:

Mobo: Asus H97-Pro Gamer
CPU: Intel Core i5 4690
Ram: Kingston HyperX 2x8GB 1600MHZ
GPU: MSI Gaming GTX 970

Skylake RIG:

Mobo: Asus Z170-A
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600
Ram: Kingston HyperX 1x8GB 2133MHZ
GPU: MSI GAMING GTX 970

Hope can help me guys!

Thanks!

well what can i say, they are both very decent.
I would personaly go with the Skylake rig, because its newer.

For the gpu you might concider a R9-390 instead on a GTX970 eventualy.
Both cards are very compatitive against eachother.

also, i can take i7 4790, but i don't know if it worth it about the performance in gaming :/

All I can say is my new build features the i5 4690k and the gtx 970, and I can run any game on ultra so far with over 100 fps, even MGSV. My bottleneck is my RAM, only have 8 gigs, so you probably would be set with those 16 gigs.

Oh, and those games are running at 1080p with no overclocking. Really happy with my build.

Mistery Angel is right. Go with the Skylake build. The whole point of buying the older hardware would be to save money but the price difference isn't really there to justify it. Yeah you can get that extra ram now with older hardware, or you can toss in another 8 gigs later and have bleeding edge hardware with the latest and greatest features.

Also the 390 is definitely something to consider.

Skylake... gaming doesn't need more than 8GB ram... and I'l get teh 390 as well

Nope the 4790 isnt realy worth it for gaming,
because you could basicly also grab a Xeon E3-1231-V3 or Xeon E3-1241-V3 which are basicly the same as the i7,
but they dont feuture an igpu, and therefore they are cheaper.
Since you going to grab a dedicated gpu anyway, you will most likely never need a igpu.

But the gains from a i7 over a i5 is realy minimal in terms of gaming.

I'll second this. I Love my 4690 that I got recently, but I picked it fairly cheap on black Friday. If you were going to overclock the 4690k might be an option, but because you aren't going to grab the 6600. I would suggest getting 2 4GB sticks rather than 1 8GB stick if you can to take the (slight) advantage of dual channel memory, if you don't plan on going above 16GB ram in the future.

of those configurations I'd go haswell because you get more ram

DDR3 and DDR4 cost pretty much the same now days,
or atleast within a margin of error.

What budget what country?

Also ya, 390 is a bit better overall for now and possibly in the future, especially if you end up with an adaptive sync display

I think the cost savings in other parts of the build afford the extra 8GB. Still not worth it.

Go with MisteryAngel said if going for the i7 take the Xeon instead it is what I run and it works great. There is a game I think its the latest Assassins Creed with the industrial England setting that it runs like ass on the i5 6600. Just look at Joker Production video of it.He recommends getting an i7.

Im from Argentina, i can get i7 4790 and i5 6600 / 6600k at similar price. I want cpu and gpu for two or three years, or i should wait for new skylake's cpu?

with R9 390 or GTX 970, is enough for two or three years?

thanks for all reply's guys!!

I just upgraded to the skylake processor and its great! I got the 6600k and it is amazing, check out digital foundries videos on youtube and it shows how awesome that it is during gaming! Also, microcenter has a great deal on the 6600k now ($220) and they give you $20 off a Mobo, soI would check that out!

guys, i just read that directx12 maybe make use of i7 hyperthreading. Im so confused, and don't know what choose! i can't reach i7 6700k, maybe i should wait and get 6700 non K? in my country is not available yet.
