Take a can of your favorite soup, add 1/4 cup (plain white) to 1/2 cup (Minute rice) and cook for however long the rice is supposed to cook. Tastes decent and comes out to like $1.25 per serving if you get store brand soup and plain rice.
Thanks man!
http://imgur.com/pgP6s65 thanks for the idea man
Also works well if you cook the rice in the soup. Although the dish kinda turns a little goopy from the rice starches this way I think it tastes even better.
Personally, Cream of Mushroom and Rice is my fav. I endorse this cooking idea.
Basic rice
-Rice - 1 part
-Liquid - 2 parts (water, stock, coconut milk)
-salt
-Pot with lid
Rice should be cooked at a 1:2 ratio of rice to water. Lets assume that the 1 is a red solo cup full of white rice, and then two will leave you with 2 solo cups full of water. Add all three solo cups and salt to the pot and bring to the boil. Once boiling put then lid on the pot and then, -
If cooking on a gas range - turn the flame to low
If cooking on an electric stove - turn the burner off
Set a timer for 20 minutes and do not peek. After the time is up fluff with a fork and eat.
This is so basic but for me learning how to cook rice was a game changer.
Just a heads up. Rice contains a lot of inorganic arsenic. To remove as much of it as you can cook it in an insane amount of water. Something like 6 times as much water as there is rice.
Yea sure. But that is such a general statement that its not very helpful, and almost a click bait title.
If anyone is actually worried about arsenic in your food here is a source to help.

Thank for that link @Littledoomer i knew that it had but not the actual dose and pasta has "a lot" ( micrograms come on) more as it seems and i did not know that .
Melt like a tablespoon of butter in a saucepan and season with anything handy. (chicken stock can work well, I've just been using salt, pepper, southern style spice mix and some soy sauce)
Keep this on a medium low heat and gently fry raw rice stirring constantly for about 5 minutes while waiting for a jug of water to boil. After 5 minutes poor in boiling water to be about halfway between your first and middle index finger knuckle over the rice. Keep boiling for another 5-10 minutes and then remove from heat, cover and wait until water has been absorbed by the rice.
This method is the best i've found to get rice to absorb flavour and not have to be accompanied by other sauces and stuff.
+1 the time depends on the rice and the last step " then remove from heat, cover and wait " is very important never let the rice cook all the way under the heat unless you want baby food , bite it if you feel just a little string in the middle ( you will get the right moment with time more people bigger has to be the string it continues cooking after you take it out ) of it still hard take it out it's done .
Goes well with some pita bread.
also try adding some sour cream on top when you got it on your plate. it will make alot of dishes like these taste alot nicer. this is best used if you cook the rice in the soup, would not recomend it if the dish is like a soup, then its only going to be a mess.
Fried rice is good and can be made easily (using the fried rice seasoning packets). But if you have some time you can chop your own veggies and what not to put in there.
isn't this porridge?
i would just throw rice in a rice cooker. add some water at a 2:1 ratio. chop up some sweet potatoes and throw them in there. add spices and cook.
Any Indian/Pakistani/South East Asian people on this forum? Someone teach this man how to cook Biryani because he's missing out on one of the best joys of life ....
Fried Rice pretty simple to make apparently. Just get simple leftovers toss em in a wok with cooked rice with garlic. Add pepper to taste. will taste good with a mix of meat and vegetables
