Reviving a dead IDE HDD

hey guys, i have an excelstor 80gb ganymede jupiter ide hdd from 2003 with a lot of stuff (anime etc..) on it that i really want to check out. i've kept this drive ever since it died in 2005. the hdd doesnt spin up at all when powered, which sucks. anyone know how to bring this thing back to life again just to see whats in the drive

Linus actually did a video on this. I guess if you throw the hard drive in the freezer for a good amount of time and then come back later and hook it up to your computer, sometimes that will give you a little bit of time to look at what files are on the hard drive before it dies again.

It looks like he didn't have too much luck with it, but it's always worth a try.

That trick saved my ass once, got all my files out of it

one time i had a drive do that and i was pissed so i gave it a good whack on the table and hooked it up and it started working again!

if it makes that clicking noise though, does that mean its just boned?
