Revised $1500 Aus Build

Hello there, I've posted a thread a while ago and I was given some great advice on what to change in my build. My budget is around $1500 for the system and i am based in Australia. I will be using it for gaming and I do not plan on overclocking it right away but I would like the option to in the future. This is what I have put together so far http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/25NI0

Since I changed my processor from an i7 to an i5 I'm not sure whether the motherboard is appropriate for this build or not. Also I have around another $100 I don't mind putting into the build, would it be a good idea to move back to an i7 or possibly upgrade the video card to the 4gb version? And though I am planning on building this myself would there be any other benefit than just saving on labour cost?

I apologize if I have made any rookie mistakes since this is my first real computer build and I am still educating myself on all this stuff. Any advice would be great.

Well an i5-4670K on a H87 mobo is realy a bit of a waste. i would say buy a Z87 board they have more feutures. even if you are not realy interested in overclocking, then still i would recommend a Z87 board with a K processor.

I would also change the GPU from the GTX770 2GB to a Msi R9-280X 3GB. because the R9-280X is cheaper, and on the most game benchmarks i saw till know the  R9-280X is mostly beating the GTX770.

i make 2 options.

AMD: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/24hFM

Intel: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/24hVb

The i5 is a fine choice, i would suggest that you change the ram option to one stick of good 8 gig ram so you can comfortably expand in the future. Or as i was checking the site  http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmz16gx3m2a1866c10 for the same money,

You can http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h87performance  and get a motherboard with better oc potential for the money, the motherboard you picked is just not for DAT

And for the graphic card http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp43774kr if you don't mind  a bit bigger expense. You will have a much bigger overclock potential and be more future prof.

If you can get a palit video card you can get much more for the buck but your site has limited options.

The power supply http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750xxxb9 is a better option because it gives you more head room for the future, SLI

My system costed less than 1500euro  and i have

Sabretooth z87 motherboard

Intel 4770K

coolmaster  Iceberg prestige solo and a custom radiator

16 gb 2133 mhz dominator platinum

samsung 840 120gb ssd

Palit jetstream 670 gtx

Caviar blue 1tb drive

Sharkoon value case

....

I made mi configuration in budget and i chose the 4 gig 770 because you can one day just slap one more of those beauty's and have a powerhouse  and use those 4 gig because sli cant combine memory remember. I did not choose a cooler because i have no idea about  air coolers :)

Memory bandwidth on the GTX 770 won't really use all 4 gigs of RAM, unless you're playing at resolutions higher than 1080p.  I would go with the 2GB versions, or a HD 7970/R9 280X.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I changed my motherboard and the psu. Also I will be sticking with the gtx 770 and the ram I selected. Here is the updated build http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/24Dqh

Would there be anything else i should change in that?

Save some money and remove the K in that CPU.  You're not going to be doing any overclocking on that MoBo.  If you do want to overclock, get a motherboard with a z87 chipset!

else everything looks good.

I was looking at options for wifi for the build as I am unable to run an ethernet cable to a router from the location it is in. Would I be better off upgrading my motherboard to have on-board wifi or would a wireless network card like this be better http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=200_328&products_id=19489

It depends on what motherboard you end up getting.  Some have better WiFi than others.  I would go with the card you picked as it supports both 2.4 and 5ghz.

4K gaming is just around the corner, and if he wants to upgrade in the future he will have to sell the old card and buy a new one because sli dosent use combined ram. I bought a 4K capable gtx 670 and regret it because the 2 gb ram is going to be a problem at 4K gaming witch i cant wait to do. Listen to real life advice. It is better to give 60 usd more and be future proof.

Sory cant comment on the radeon pick because i use my pc for cad, cam, video and foto editing and use nvidia because of bad suport from amd.

I am shocked where the ram prices went!

Thanks for that ill go with that wireless card. Is there anything else I should do with the build or is it all compatible and ready to order?

Again, I will emphasize, the i5-4670K will be absolutely useless in that motherboard.  You can't overclock with an H87 motherboard.  Get the i5-4670.

Would this z87 motherboard be better than the H87 i have chosen http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1491&products_id=23624

Most, if not all z87 mobos will work.  That's a M-ATX, and will look a bit small in your Mid-Tower ATX case.

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1491&products_id=24393

would look a bit better.

My only concern with that one is that it doesn't have internal usb 3.0 sockets. Wouldn't that mean that I am unable to connect my cases usb 3.0 front ports to it?

well stay away for msi Z87 G43 boards, its realy lack of feutures and it does not have sli support either. ☺ if you want msi board then look at the G45 Gaming and up. also nice choices would be Msi Z87 GD65 Gaming  or Asus Z87 Pro, if you like onboard bluetooth and wifi.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Z87 GD65 Gaming board.  I was thinking that might push the OP's budget kinda far, though.

Since the higher end overclocking motherboards are out of my price range I am just going to get the i5-4670. If i got that would the build I have be ready to order. Or is it really recommended that I get something to overclock for just in case i need to extra speed later on? Thanks

well i gave two very nice build  earlier in this topic. you said you like to stick with Nvidia,  so you can pick my intel build I5-4670K with msi Z87 G45 gaming. and trow in a GTX770 if you prefer that.

but i would personaly trow my money in a cheaper R9-280X which is beating the GTX770 in most games. especialy the sapphire Toxic. but thats personal offcourse
