Review My PC Overhaul [PLEASE HELP BIG INVESTMENT]

Okay after a lot of and I mean a lot of thought I am going to spend about 500$ to overhaul my PC

I will be switching to intel, I am going to grab the following

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116901    i7 4770k

EDIT: EDIT: COOLER: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018 Noctua NHD14

MainBoard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130693 MSI 787 Mobo, Name is so long xD

GPU: NVidia 670 (Already Have)

RAM 10GB 1600MHz (Have)

Okay anyways, tell me what you guys think, I wasn;t exactly thrifty when buying this I kinda went all out, at least for a high schooler with a minimum wage job, but I want an upgrade that is as future proof as it gets for that price.

What I Will Be Doing: Heavy OCing, Heavy GAMING BF4 <3, Video Editing, Mod Creation [Skyrim], Maybe look into creating some indie games when I gain more knowledge, I am enrolling in a game design class, I have not chosen which though, audio creation, I love dubstep using FL Studio.

That's about it guys, so will this overhaul suit my needs for a while, is it a solid build, and should I completley rethink it, maybe change some parts?

Thanks for those of you who have helped me through this decision and the tek syndicate community, I truly appreciate it.

Parts look decent, I have an NH-D14 and a 4GB 670, great card and great cooler. How hard do you plan to push the overclocks exactly?

Oh the NH-D14 is not for lga 1150, so I will be going with the NH c14 and umm idk I will do some pretty hard oc tho

Oh some people on tomshardware are sating it will fit http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1703907/noctua-d14-4770k.html

1155 and 1150 use the same CPU mount; it will fit. And keep in mind, it's still an air cooler, and there's only so much you can do regarding OCing before you need a custom water loop. But of course, it depends how hard you really want to push it.

Btw, is water cooling a pain?

A custom loop can be if you don't know what you're doing, but once you get the hang of how they work, they're pretty straight forward. They're also a fair bit more expensive to put together than the NH-D14 is.

Hmm, btw what do you think about the rest of my rig overhaul?

I think 10GB of RAM is an odd amount to have, but you have decent components and you'll be happy with the performance of the system. If I were to change anything it would be the RAM, I'd go for a 16GB kit (either 4x4GB or 2x8GB if you plan to add more down the road).

Your right, but I wont add more ram for quite a while though

As you already have the RAM, you may as well put it to good use. Was just thinking for an optimal setup. Regardless, it's still a good selection of components and it will see you through your gaming and educational needs for a decent amount of time to come.

Yeah thanks just wish I could get some other opinions as well, not to say your wrong, anyways thank you very much

Oh the NH-D14 is not for lga 1150, so I will be going with the NH c14 and umm idk I will do some pretty hard oc tho

If it fits 1155, then it can fit 1150. The NH-D14 is compatble...

Yeah I know, sorry for the confusion, I read your post wrong

You read a lot of posts wrong... lol

Yeah it is; it's LGA1155/56, therefore LGA1150.

Not really.

Btw how does the 4770k compare to the 2700k and 3700k, is it better?

Looks good; only change I would make is to grab this motherboard instead; only $10 more, but a very robust VRM and overall feature set. Well cooled VRM and southbridge, as well.

If you were looking at a 2700k or what you mean to be a 3770k, you'd need a different motherboard. 4770k is the latest generation, if you're overhauling your PC right now, you might as well take the latest.
