Resin model kits

Have any of you guy ever worked with a resin models before? Are they much different to the standard plastic ones? am curious to know if there is much difference is gluing and painting them and if a beginner like me can still work with them.

Cheers

As long you're confident in your painting skills they aren't bad to work with and yield some pretty nice end results compared to standard plastic. What particular model(s) were you looking at?

ive found a Verlinden Tiger I 1/15. i know they have some bubbles and that which pop up but im not too fussed about that. i just found a great bargan on the model kit %75 off

Doesn't look too bad to build, looks like a lot of mid-high skill painting though, lots of nooks and crannies. How were you planning to paint it? If you have an air brush it should be a walk in the park, otherwise you may face a bit of a challenge.

Cheers, i am going to look for a small compressor and an airbrush kit soon. Side note, what models have you done? and whats your experience with resin kits?

I've actually never worked with a resin kit just watched tutorials out the wazoo. some of them need to be sanded/primed btw depends on the resin. I've built a few gunpla models I'm not really an expert :P

thats alg. cheers for the help anyway

It's a good idea to wash resin models with warm soapy water to remove any residual releasing agent. If you don't you might find that primer doesn't cover properly. Once they're dry you can fix any imperfections and prime them as normal.

For a compressor I use a simple one from harbor freight and for airbrush I have a paasche h single action (I build model cars so I don't need fine control... If you do need fine control then obviously use double action).

thanks for the help

how much will that set me back?

Well the compressor was about $100 and the airbrush was pretty cheap... i can't remember now but it was less than $50
