Replacing Motherboard

I asked this question on another forum, but I just want to open it to all of you here.  :)

My friend's ASRock Z77 Pro3 died, and he sent it in for RMA. When he got it back this afternoon, he asked me if he should re-install Windows 7. I told him he probably should, but then I had another thought.

In theory, if you replace your mobo with the same model, shouldn't the drivers on your current hard drive still be the same? If so, you shouldn't have to re-install Windows 7, right?

correct.

hopefully.

Correct, as in, my theory is correct, or he should re-install Windows?

Correct, as in hopefully there will be no problems without reinstalling windows.

it should work without reinstall

You mostly only get bsods wenn you chanced from a platform, like intel to AMD, or intel Z77 to intel Z87 visa versa.

In the early days you had diffrent manufacturers of chipsets. but thats a long time ago. even most todays boards have the same lan chip and audio chip on board. same sata controller, visa versa.. some luxery boards have better sound chips or better lan chips, but then only an uninstall of those drivers  should be doing it.

it should that is the key word but try for it

ps make sure the uefi is set up ie boot order is set up and such

The simple answer is do it and see if it works. If it doesn't work then you know you'll need to reinstall windows.
