Remove optical drive after W7 install?

I am about to re-install windows on a fresh batch of parts, and I wanted to know how well it would work for me to hook up an optical drive to install Windows 7 (or any other os, for that matter) and then disconnect the optical drive. I am used to installing operating systems via an optical drive, but my future enclosure will not have space for the optical drive (my current one does, but I will need to ditch it when I get the new case), so will this plan work? I don't see why it would be a problem, but I just wanted to see if anyone had an experience with something along these lines.

It won't be any problem, just install W7 on your storage device and put it in the new rig.
