My PC has become a bit of a experiment in tech for the livingroom expirence. Does anyone know of a good way of doing a remote power switch for a PC?
try http://www.xoxide.com/pcremotestart-resetcontroller.html . it looks like a good system, and the reviews all say its ok. ive ordered from them in the past, and their a good company. hope this helps.
That, or you could build one yourself. If I recall correctly, which I probably don't, the power switch operates at 5V. Get a relay, that is activated at 5V (plenty of them around, just go to the MakerShed), then wire up a simple circuit with an input from whatever wireless method you use. There are lots of tiny microcontrollers you could use, like the finger tip-sized Arduinos, and such, that you could program a simple scripth on to for this exact purpose. You could use dual-band wifi, or something cool, maybe even HAM radio, as a method for the wireless, remote activation. Who cares, as long as it is fun. Much cooler than buying something.
Thank you. I've been busy lately but trying to get back to the problem.
