Is there anything wrong with buying a refurbished graphics card?
yesterday i ordered a refurbished evga 660 ti off newegg for $250, and today they have the same one brand new for 250 and a $20 rebate. is it worth it to return it, and order a brand new one? it seems like a lot of headache
IF it's actually refurbished, it means it has been inspected for resell, and should come with some sort of limited warranty. If it doesn't come with a warranty, don't bother as it's likely just used and not actually refurb'd, or there's a defect. I doubt that happens on Newegg, but if you were ordering off eBay or something, it's something to look out for. You'd probably pay that $20 rebate in shipping costs. Don't bother returning.
Assuming this is the GPU in question, it should be fine as it comes with a 1 year warranty, which is quite generous for a refurb.
It lookes like newegg only has a replacement only policy on that item. But i had bought a graphics card like an idiot so i could try and play day-z and well i should have upgraded the psu. So basically the card kept crashing i would get the kernel stopped working and has recovered blah blah. Anyway i asked newegg if i could return the card for store credit. They were more than happy to oblige so they might even offer to give you a refund for the difference. Who knows, its worth a shot they seem to have pretty good customer service.
