ok so i have a resolution of 1366 x 768 i want to record 720p or 1080p videos, will the outout quality be terrible?
Resolutions used by YouTube
- 480p, 640x480, 4:3
- 720p, 1280x720, 16:9
- 1080p, 1920x1080, 16:9
Since 1366x768 is ~16:9 aspect ratio, you can easily downscale the 1366x768 to 720p or just directly record 720p with Dxtory.
yea thats what i do with dxtory, if i use 1366 x 768 and record at 1080p the result is good/ bad?
1366x768 < 1920x1080
You can't record higher resolution than your display's native resolution. If you wanted to do 1080p video, you would have to upscale it in the video editor and the quality would be a worse. I would just stick to 720p and use a high a bitrate for the render.
a higer bitrate? im sorry

yeah, stick with 720p, it takes me 3 1/2 hrs to render a 50 min 1080p vid, with an i7 and a gtx 260
thanks, but why do i have to use a compressor - 25 Mbit/s approximate — HDV 1080i (using MPEG2 compression)[19]
YouTube does its own compression after the upload, so its better to use a little bit higher bitrate than needed so the quality doesn't get drastically worse. You don't have to use 25Mbit/s, but something around 15-20 Mbit/s does the job quite well, although it depends on the codec.
The bitrate is set in the render settings in the video editor you choose to use (e.g. Premiere Pro, Edius, Lightworks(free), Sony Vegas etc.)
YouTube also has its own guidelines here: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1722171&topic=2888648&ctx=topic
thanks :)
