I've just bought a Gigabyte P27g v2 gaming notebook for a great price and the config im going to receive it in, includes only a 1T HDD... Having played with SDDs I'm sold on the idea of using an SSD for operating system and key/crucial applications while using an HDD for mass storage, however im not sure which one to purchase :/ Here's where im hoping for a hand... I'm not looking for excessive storage space (enough to run windows 8.1 and 2 or 3 other applications) and neither am I looking for a drive which shoots lazers or has read or write times equivalent to the speed of light... I'm aware that sometimes SSDs just die and i've taken that into consideration but at the same time, reliability is my utmost priority. Any Input Appreciated :D
For reliability, I think Samsung is the way to go. I'm sure it happens, but I'm yet to hear of one failing.

Yea, I was thinking heavily on samsung as i've heard wonderful things about their SSDs... Cheers for the say. definitely swayed me towards samsung.
What would you have to say about the Samsung 840 evo? retailers around me seem to only offer this series and i would much rather buying from a physical retailer :/
The Evo series is a very good for the money. Obviously the Pros are better, but for most use you'll not really notice any difference between Evo and Pro. Unless you're sat there with a stopwatch and demand every second advantage you can get, then Evo will probably be fine for your needs......but then what you'd really need would be a life.
@Ray
Just get a SanDisk Ultra Plus 128GB for $60
Cheap and reliable, plus they come highly recommended amongst the people who know what they're talking about ie; Aussie geeks.
Remember to check (if you haven't already) the requirements of an extra drive mounting kit as some laptops/notebooks need proprietary sata/power cabling.
the 840 evo would out live the laptop
Cheers Guys, been a huge help.
hmm, alright, i'll take it into consideration mate. after all that $60 price tag is fairly tempting :D
I can vouch for the 840 Evo, I have had one I'm my gaming rig for ages now, never had a problem, and i have just recently put one in my old macbook its runs like new now :)
