Recommended release channel for AMD gaming?

Perhaps the answer is as straight-forward as it sounds but I kind of wanted to get a census for what others are doing.

So I initially hopped on GNOME 15.10 when it had recently come out but ran into a bunch of display/driver issues involving the kernel right out of the gate that forced me to rethink this idea of running the latest version. I ended up going back to 14.04 which is the LTS channel and so far haven't had any display issues but there's also missing features. Not really a big deal but I like the idea of running the latest most up to date version. OCD or otherwise, it's a personal thing I have about feeling the need to be up to date OS or display drivers alike.

Does AMD typically ignore non-LTS channel for drivers? Any hint of that changing?

I have an R9 390x if that matters.

they mostly focus on newer version of linux. kernel 4.0+

In terms of 14.04, 14.10, 15.04, etc where do the kernel versions fit in?

no hints at changing, non-LTS will stay with AMD. The so called 'opening' of amd might bring something in next 2 years, but i wouldn't count much on it.

Yeah I'm looking forward to that but 2 years... dang

intel is not really LTS, but its the closest you can get - and they've spent about 5 years if not more being completely open with their drivers.
