Recommended for Korean 40"-55" 4K Monitors?

Hi guys, so I've read through of lot of guides and threads on the forums about these 40"+ Korean monitors. I'm looking to buy one as of right now but I've seen a lot of ppl bought them and having issues like smoke coming out from the bezel, screen is not as good because of backlight bleeding, etc. But from all of the Teksyndicate reviews, they said these monitors are really good.

So I'm looking to buy one of these 40"+, and I see that they have all kind of panels, like VA, MVA, IPS, etc.
So which one is the best? And there are so many Korean brands to choose from too like AMH, Crossover, WasabiMango, etc. So which brand is the best? Any infos would be appreciated.

Wasabi Mango, works at 120hz @ 1080p and has free-sync, it's also the most expensive naturally.

Is it IPS? or what? And why Wasabi Mango over others like AMH, Crossover, Yamasaki?

Probably VA, but VA and IPS really aren't too different if you aren't using photoshop professionally

"LG AH-IPS Panel"
It has free-sync, so ya, you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere

Ya it's the same price as on Ebay for 49". It said " LG AH-IPS" panel, so what do u mean by "maybe not LG AH IPS"?

I have to say i got mine a week ago and am very very happy with the panel.
I opted for the AMH A409U V2 which was a touch over 600 USD and only 50 USD for taxes and duties (into Thailand - as I'm a Brit abroad). A VA panel. Great connections and faultless screen. A little bit of set up to tweak and adjust but gorgeous on the work and eyes..
Posted yesterday that DreamSeller in ebay seems to have some new stock in and listed in their store on same website.
The reviews here have been pretty favourable towards them but there is (and are) some items not so great that people have recounted but a lot relate to build quality, dead pixels and the odd failure but they are sold as seconds and most sellers as companies will replace dead panels.
The benefits outweigh the pitfalls according to my one experience. Plenty of others have similar stories.
Good luck with choices.
Work checking all the possible reviews from here and on you tube (most of friends of TekSyndicate).
Cheers.

editing mistake, it's IPS, not VA

Hey man, thx for your inputs :) So what does the V2 have over their original version? And I thought i see a post somewhere with the new V2 has smoke coming out? And it said it has 10bit color does that mean it covers 99% Adobe RGB (not sRGB)?

I'm looking for 99% Adobe RGB in these 4K Korean monitors, just not sure if they have it? thx.

Also, what about gaming? does it have slight blurry slow motion since it's not as fast as AH-IPS panel?

And btw I want one with "tempered glass" panel? I don't like "matte".

Hi.
The new (V2) panel has 3 x USB 2.0 connectors and seemingly a new controller board but this has yet to be fully confirmed - just the on screen gui is different to the original so the assumption goes that its a different controller, time will tell (have messaged the DreamSeller team for board specs but is Chinese New Year until 11th).
I am a photographer (hence the user name) and use a different pro panel for retouching so have not tested the gamut range yet - hoping it will be good enough.
The screen is not fully matte nor is it a gloss glass screen. It is a very acceptable balance between the two - so not too many reflected to distract.
I dont tend to game on this (as yet) so have not pushed or tested for ghosting/judders or others just yet...
Personally, if all the spcs can stack up for you it is a good value/ hi spec panel.
Check in worh some of the guys on the various 409U threads and perhaps they have more (tech) details for your questions.

Yea but which one is better for "Gaming"? I Know a lot of people on here bought the AMH U409 monitors with VA panel and said it's "fine" for gaming. I'm just not sure about the Wasabi Mango with the LG AH-IPS panel.

The mango is going to be about the best strictly because you can run it at 120hz for gaming, they're all going to be relatively long on the grey to grey times, so it really doesn't matter if you aren't a professional gamer, also it has free-sync for when you run games at 4k, it only goes to like 60hz or so for free-sync.

Yea why they keep making monitor with FreeSync? That sucks cause I have Nvidia video card, I don't like Amd cards ever :) But 120hz is for 1080p resolution right? Not for 4k, so what's the point of buying a 4K monitor and use it in 1080p just for 120hz?

Did you get a Wasabi Mango? thx

Because free sync is an open technology. Looks like the companies want to support open computing standards.

About the 120hz, you can use lower refresh rates at higher resolution for things like photo and video editing, Web design, programming, etc... Not only that, but not everyone needs 120hz for games. I'm perfectly happy with 1080@60 for games, but would like 4k for programming and other productivity related things.

The monitor would cost $1100 if they put G-sync one it, going by the current mark up for a G-sync 4k IPS display. and AMD cards are faster at nearly every price point right now, aside from the 980ti, and they have better higher resolution performance in general.

As an owner of a Wasabi Mango UHD 420, I'd just like to chime in and say that it's a great monitor, but right now, the prices seem quite high. I got mine for 666 USD, but they're now going for much more. If it's speed you're worried about, the VA panels will be faster. FreeSync is nice. Note that the WM actually does not do 120 Hz; the panel is capable, but the controller can't keep up. The max that people seem to be able to get at 1080p without frame skipping is somewhere in the neighborhood of 72 Hz. See Wendell's correction on the UHD 420 thread:

https://forum.teksyndicate.com/t/42-inch-4k-freesync-for-the-masses-wasabi-mango-uhd420-tek-syndicate/86441/29?u=shoring.fragments

In my experience, these Korean monitors often have small flaws, but only rarely show-stopping issues. It can seem like they are plagued with problems, but that seems to be due to the fact that those who run into problems tend to be most vocal about it. You should be prepared for the small flaws, and if you get a show-stopper, you may have to exchange it. No big deal.

Hey man thx for the infos. Are there any Wasabi Mango or AMh with a "glossy" panel? Like not semi-gloss? thx.

Also, why is the VA panel is faster? I thought LG AH-IPS is the newest and fastest IPS?

Happy to speak about it. I'm not aware of any AMH or WM displays with fully glossy panels, but if I've missed one, someone please let me know. My understanding is that glossy panels are not popular with their target market.

The "why" of why the VA panels are faster gets rather technical. One technology is not inherently faster than the other, but the specific implementation of the IPS in the UHD 420 is slower than the VA in the AMH / Microboard displays, as far as I know. It could be a different story with the newer WM displays, but I have no way of testing. The WM is just fine for most gaming, but if you play twitch shooters or other games where lightning response is key, one of the panels would probably be better.
