Recommended FLAC Audio Player

It’s more minimalistic than I was expecting, but it works better than others I have tried. I’ll definitely keep note of it, though I am still hoping for something that’s more into detail.

I’m not a Mac guy, so I’d be hard pressed to give you advice on this front. Best of luck though.

If you come across anything else, feel free to let me know.

I use Rhythmbox

https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Rhythmbox

Allows easy fetching and browsing album art for flac’s, and also other forms of various meta data. There’s no pretty installer for MacOS, meaning that you’ll be installing from source tarballs.

Does Rhythmbox work on Mac?

It should. It’s basically FreeBSD.

People seem to use MacOS all the time for compiling stuff, so it should handle the source code just fine.

Just out of curiosity, how did you come across MPV?
I did some basic searching for FLAC players for Mac, and I didn’t find much helpful. Did you search specifically for media players or?..

It’s the media player for Linux minimalist types. I had a minimalism kick a little while back, used it then and still do now because it fits my workload.

Found it on /r/unixporn

Another one to add to the mix is Ocenaudio. It opens FLAC like Audacity, but it doesn’t require import.

http://www.ocenaudio.com/

It’s freely licensed closed source software from a University in Brazil. Should work good on Mac.

ehhhhh… tried it and don’t really see the point. It acts a lot like VLC.

take a look at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/ they have a lot of software old, new, free and licensed
it take’s a bit of time and effort to find what you want
