Hackintoshing - just had very good experience with Atheros and is something I want to stick with. I’m open to that idea though, but I’ve been told not all Intel chips work.
You can go for Atheros if you can find one that works, you’ll also be stuck with at most 802.11n though as there is limed to no ac chips. You can pretty much pick up any new Intel chip for $15 and an PCI adaptor (if you don’t have a m.2 or similar slot) and your good to go.
