Recommendations on GOG due to gaming rig dying

Due to my gaming rig dying I’m now limited to an old laptop.

i5 3320m 2C4T @ 3.3 with HD4000 graphics and 4GB ram .

HMU with recommended cheap old games on @GOGcom that should run.

Thank you

It was either on gog or humble store, but there is a large tycoon sale…

It isn’t on GOG but you should take a look at Endless Sky. It’s an open source space trading game based on Escape Velocity and should run great on that laptop. I’ve put soo many hours into this game and still keep going back to it. Also being open source its still under active development and their are also quite a few mods for it as well.

its also on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/404410/Endless_Sky/

I don’t know about GOG but

Unreal Tournament is on Steam. Works on Win10 in OpenGL mode. Still as good as its always been (not really a multiplayer scene though)

I also still play BF2 (Battlefield 2) which has also aged VERY well. You can get a free DL from BF2Hub and they host servers. The old ones really are the best!

Super Meat Boy is easy to run and stupid fun

You can run any dx9 game with wine-gallium-nine i guess

Right so you can actually play a lot on HD4000’s. Most HL2 based games, CSGO, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Banished, Deus Ex 1 + HR, Hearts of Iron 4, Insurgency, possibly Guns of Icarus, jotun, Planetary Annihilation, Shadow Warrior, Sanctum 1+2, Stellaris, StarMade, Stardew Valley, Squad, XCOM…

I’m just going down my list TBH.

-Stardew Valley
-Master of Orion II
-Septerra Core
-Grim Fandango
-Fallout Classic and Fallout 2

Also don’t forget about the near countless games from the NES, SNES, N64, and PSX era that will run flawlessly on older hardware like that. Some of the greatest games of all time are from those systems, and can be easily had.

Shadow Warrior, the original is free and the remaster costs money
Quake 3 should probably run
Tyrian 2000
I Have No Mouth And i Must Scream (includes the original short story)
Thief gold+Thief 2
Deus Ex

What type of games are you into?

Factorio
Stardew Valley

two games that can tide you over for hours. Airport layovers are a thing of the past, particularly with Factorio. That game is addicting as hell.

All of the suggestions here will cover my needs.

Betrayal At Krondor, quite possibly the best story in any RPG.
Fragile Allegiance, from back when real time strategy games were legitimately out to murder you.
Quest for Glory series. Puns. Lots and lots of puns.
Maybe hit up Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 to see where modern first person RPGs got their start. A little hard to plow through without the context of Ultima 4, 5, 6, and 7, but doable. Or maybe play those games, too.
I’m personally having a blast playing through the original X-Com series on Twitch.

Old games are the best games.

Most games by Double Fine will probably work on your setup and they’re really good:
Psychonauts
Brutal Legend
Massive Chalice
Costume Quest
etc.

Some others:
Quest for Infamy
Streets of Rogue (may only be on Steam right now though)

Other games I’ve been into lately that are older than the above:
Lords of the Realm 2 (on gog.com, it’s included with the Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition)
Sid Meier’s Pirates! (game is like crack. older Pirates! Gold is also good)
Elder Scrolls 1 & 2 (should still be able to get both of these free from Bethesdasoft directly, if you can still find the right page).
