Recommendations for PCI Wifi Cards

My motherboard only supports Ethernet and I was thinking of getting a PCI Wifi card because the link speeds are bad. Our university wifi infrastructure is new and robust, but the Ethernet connections are still on phone jacks.

I will probably use this for gaming in windows seeing as my download speed in Linux is not really a priority

If you plan on using Linux that ASUS card isn’t the best option. It is a Broadcom which commonly have issues on Linux. For Linux Intel WiFi cards are pretty much what you want and they’ll work great.

How about some old router as a bridge? No issues in terms of compatibility at least.

If I am convinced, will probably going to use this for Windows gaming seeing as I already have Ethernet for Linux.

People mentioned coil whine, will it be louder than a Fury X or will the Fury X drown the whine?
