Recommend me some movies

first.. here is what i hate:

hollywood nonsense like transformers, godzilla, day after tomorrow, etc... I need substance not product placement, ridiculous dialog, and explosions.

I like more subtle movies that make you think... and action is good so long as it is not braindead...
here are some movies I like:

sunshine
empire strikes back
blade runner
Amadeus
city of god
slumdog millionaire
The Bourne Ultimatum
Serenity

I like darker stuff too... and I like something that makes me think... asian stuff is good as well.

let me know if you have any recommendations... need to see a good flick.

ooh nice choices.. i liked slumdog

hrmm. have you watched body of lies?

Taken and Gran Torino

ooh. forgot about gran torino. really good movie. Youll love it.

I HATED taken... it was like every cheesy line from every movie... and every cheesy idea put into one ridiculously unbelievable movie... I would give it 1/10

haven't seen gran torino...

body of lies was really good.

EDIT: also, I don't like theaters... so nothing that is still only in theaters.

a beautiful mind

thanks div... a few in there I haven't seen... gonna look into them!

I would have a bunch if you like comedies :)

I like comedies like ghost town, monty python and the holy grail, my sassy girl (Asian version), and death at a funeral... so mostly brittish style humor...

american mainstream comedies are usually fart/ penis jokes... and that doesn't do anything for me.

got any smart comedies?

Best 'smart' comedy: Office Space. my personal favorite movie.

valkyrie perhaps?

My wife likes Underworld.. I think it is inferior to the Russian film "Night Watch" and the sequel "Day Watch"... much better movies with similar flavor.

yep hollywood screws most things up these days the marx brothers are classic.

anyways as far as good movies go if you haven't seen it already the dark knight was a good movie, then there's the LOTR trilogy, and I liked Ironman I saw it twice (once in theaters once at home with my family) my sister thought it was a very nerdy movie so you might like it. Otherwise most other movies are junk I think.

Logan watch pan's labyrinth.

its in all spanish though so you have to read subtitles. its by the guy who directed hell boy and Blade. its very cool in my mind.
