I know you guys probably see a bunch of these but here I go anyway!

I'm a huge fan of Opeth, Symphony X, Metallica's older stuff, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. My music collection isn't as big as I'd like it to be and would like suggestions on what other bands I should give a listen to!

Some other bands I like are Amon Amarth, Katatonia, Iron Savior, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, and a little bit of Machine Head's songs.

Bands I don't like at all : Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Asking Alexandra, any metalcore band

I'm mostly looking for metal with growling(not screaming), like Opeth (Ghost of Perdition era) and Amon Amarth. Any suggestions would be awesome! Bands like Symphony X would also be pretty awesome.

Kataklysm, give Prevail or To Throne of Sorrow a try - Most of their songs are great, classics

Dark Fortress, maybe my favorite band, Catawomb and Osiris are wicked, probs the crysis 3 of metal

Dimmu Borgir, beautiful, Puritanical Misanthropic Euphoria, whole album. wow I spelled it right and remembered it, and I don't even know what puritanical or misanthropic mean

Suicide Silence, You only live once, Youtube it watch the vid, its kinda harcoreish but I recomend it becaise its a gamechanger cross genre amazing band/song.

I recommend you these song to progress you into metel-er music, without scaring you away before you become a gorgoroth or deicide fan...

Symphony X's songs are a bit lengthy. They can really beefy towards the middle and the end of those particular songs.
