Thanks! I think I'm gonna grab it

LG G4. They can be had for the same price as Asus Zenfone 2's on Ebay, and is a better phone.

Have you heard of xiaomi? I heard they make some pretty good phones. I was thinking of their 16gb Mi Note

They're beginning to become popular in North America. Personally, I wouldn't get them because I value Android O.S updates (ex. Marshmallow to nougat), and I have no clue whether Xiamomi actually updates their phones. If you're looking for just the physical hardware and build, some of their phones are pretty good.

Regarding the Mi Note, although it is running hardware from 2013, if it can be had for less than $300, it's not a bad idea to get one. If you tend to use a lot of storage (lots of videos, movies, flac music), you may want to opt for the 64GB version.

I think you can flash marshmellow 6.0.1 according to their forums so that might not be an issue. Its android so you can also flash custom roms via TWRP too I think, but I could be wrong. I thought the Mi note came out in 2015. Is it that outdated? I'll just bypass the storage issue with an OTG cable. Granted its annoying, I cant justify the extra 100 bucks for the 64gb version. I'm too cheap lol

Edit: Elephone P9000 also looks pretty good!

What's your preferred retailer? Ebay? Aliexpress? Walmart? Bestbuy? Your carrier?

My preferred retailer is usually swappa for gently used phones(theyre really good! Thats where I got my Note 4 and stuff), but these chinese phones like the xiaomi are usually just on honorbuy I think. My carrier's Tmobile

I think there is no better phone on a budget than the OnePlus X. I certainly don't have any problems with it. It comes with a dark theme, has no bloatware installed and is really well built.

Are they still asking for invites when you buy them?

No. You can just order it.

I personally use the Nexus 6P, which has great specs 1440p display, 3450 mah battery, and front facing speakers.
I like the Nexus mainly for the amazing media consumption by its front facing speakers and display, but that's my preference.

For budget, I would consider Xaio Mi or One Plus.

For I have a lot of money, I would consider the Samsung S7 or potential Note 7.

For media consumption, I would consider the Nexus 6P Motorola X (2015), or the HTC 10.

Otherwise consider previous flagship Smartphones as they are now cheaper.

Didn't even think of recommending this phone. It is amazing.

I've decided on the One Plus X. Thanks for your help everyone!

make sure it has the approrpiate bands for your provider.. it won't support 4G on AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCs.

It should work on Sprint and Verizon though.

I own one and personally develop for it over on XDA (Intoxicated Boeffla and now Project Starkiller) and while its a great phone, take a look at a second hand Nexus 6 or a 5X. They're all around better and will offer the best stock experience. A Shamu can be had for a tad Kore than the X so I'd take the plunge.

Oh and do check this out:

Suggestions are always welcome. If you'd like, I can post a review for you sometime tomorrow

I heard the Note 7 is a blast...
