So, the onboard sound card on my pc has gone out on me, and I am on the search for a new one. I am not using it for gaming (I am going to be building a gaming pc later on, and if it is good enough I might use it in that pc too). I will be using it for listening to music and videos (I am no audiophile by any means. I am looking at this to use as the replacement, as it is cheap. However, is there something else you would recommend using instead? I don't want to spend an incredible amount of money (lets keep it at $20 for now, I might be able to go up a little on the price). It doesn't have to be external, that one just happend to be so.
find your price range ($20) and find a xonar card that maches. IF you have an open pci slot then http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-XONAR-Headphone-Audio-Card/dp/B0045JHJSS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1376611511&sr=1-1&keywords=sound+card
