Recommend a Video Library Application

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Anime, Tv & Movie section, but I assumed I get in trouble if I posted there so here it is haha!

I'm looking for an application for keeping track of my Video Library, specifically TV shows and marking what has been watching/what hasn't. I found fubar2000 through tek syndicate so I assumed it'd be the best bet for finding the Video equivalent haha.

Something as customisable as fubar would be amazing, but really all I want is something that is minimalistic that will keep track of all the shows I have and what episode I'm up to. Major bonus points if it'll open video via VLC.

Thanks heaps!

xbmc

+1 for xbmc, you can configure it to launch an external player like VLC.

Downloading now. Would you believe I thought it was an OS until now? haha!

Well if you like it, it can be. XBMCbuntu

been looking everywhere for something like this with many crappy and costly options until i thought hey lets ask the tek syndicate! and sure enough it seems like you guys had the answer i am downloading now, if this works thank you so much!

I use Plex... It's not as customisable as Xbmc, but i prefer the interface and the server/client set up as i stream the content to all of the others users at home.

It's also free (i.e. doesn't cost money, not open-source/non-proprietary) and you can use Xbmc as a client/front-end for your Plex server (the computer where the content is organised).

You'll get to track which shows/films you've watched and it will track where you stopped a movie so you can continue later. The premium (paid) subscription gives you this ability for more than one user and the ability to watch your movies remotely.

+1 XBMC is a nice suggestion, if you don't need the full blown media center you could try Miro. It's like iTunes for movies and series with a torrent client as well.
