I have a little YouTube channel, and sometimes I will want to do live shows.
From what I understand (please correct if I’m wrong) the best quality tends to be a modern camera on an arm or stand connected to a PC.
The minimum I’d like it to be able to do is 1080p 60fps, my issue is, that unless I want to buy the latest and greatest, it’s difficult to find out if a camera can do this.
If there are any resources I could spend some time pouring over, that would be ideal. But, that aside, any advice on a budget camera that can do this would be perfect.
I’ve personally been eyeing the Sony ZV-1F which might fit your bill. Haven’t got one myself but will likely get it in the future. It can do 1080p 60 over USB without even needing a capture card or software (acts like a USB webcam).
if your uk based. ^^ this place does great deals and has a massive selection of used kit that is as described. (if anything the over emphasise issues, so that its clear what your buying)
they are very fair with there prices both to sell to and buy from…
another ok source but ship world wide.
just browse through what they have and you should find something decent for a good price
If you want ease of use, then look into a secondhand, but relatively modern mirrorless camera. The newer models connect and charge through a USB-C cable, which makes them very hassle free. As said earlier; no capture cards or the like required.
MPB is a fine option. Or something like KEH.
Just look around for discount codes for those sites first though. You’ll find many if you look up some camera/video centric youtubers.
You can go with an older DSLR, which might be cheaper to buy, but you’ll need a capture card as well.
Don’t buy into the “need a full frame sensor for best quality” thing. For video like that, especially with just clear 1080p, you’re fine with a micro 4/3rd or APS-C camera.
And don’t forget about a lens if you’re shopping for something like that!
Mostly in the (full frame) 20~35 range, depending on how close you have your camera to your face and how much of your surroundings you want to capture.
Pick up your phone and set it about where you’d put your camera. Those tend to default to about a 24mm equivalent. If you want a tighter shot, go for something closer to 35mm, if you want it wider, go for something around 20mm.
Getting a zoom lens would be most versatile.
Personally, I use my Fujifilm X-T4 if I need to stream something. That’s way overkill for your needs though. But such a model does make it easy with the 1 cable solution.
