Recognizes but doesn't use bass speaker

I have a kinda old 60 U$D 5.1 speaker set that has always worked... the quality is enough for me but now it doesn't use the bass, i say it doesn't use it because the ASUS/Realtek software recognizes and tests it without a problem but neither YouTube, VLC, Winamp or WMP use it.

 

Any suggestions?

 

  • The software is up to date
  • Win8.1 also says that is correctly configured
  • I don't have a problem with headphones 
  • It works fine on my old machine

can you test the driver with a voltage meter?

Have you tried playing anything with a 5.1 source? like a DVD or bluray or whatever? Because if you're just playing stereo sources then it will only use 2 channels. Unless there is a crossover set up to divert the bass to the subwoofer then it will only send a signal there if you are playing something with the .1 channel.

You should be able to set something up in software to get it working, but I don't know specifically what to look for.
