Received Rooted "Brand New" Galaxy S6 from eBay

I bought on the ebay daily deal the $529.99 Galaxy S6 just the other day. Front page of ebay...

This came advertised as being brand new but I was skeptical because the plastic wrapping looked tamped with. I boot it right up 0% battery (sign of use) and then go right to the OTA 5.1.1 update for the phone that just came out. Gives me "Your device has been modified" and can't receive updates warning. Downloaded a rootchecker apk and sure enough superuser pops up and my phone is rooted.

I am worried because a lot of people are getting this phone and reporting that it is as describe (brand new) and the fact that their could be some rouge software pre installed that could be sending my information back to where it's from (singapore).

I was going to flash this phone to a custom rom anyways but now I pretty much have too.

Just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has experienced this sort of thing before.

You could alert ebay. They might shut them down or something, though I have VERY little experience with ebay, so I have no idea if that is a practical thing to want to happen or not. You could thank them for rooting it for you if you were going to root it anyway. You could leave a review as a warning to any potential buyers. You could return it as it obviously wasn't actually brand new as described.

Make a case with ebay saying the item you received was not as described and used instead of new.
