Razer's new mice - ouroborous and taipan - come with their new Synapse 2.0 drivers. And, well, these drivers store all your profiles on Razer's servers, demand mandatory log-in to use, and they are doing the same that EA's Origin did at the start - monitoring your computer's data and sending them to razer / razer's partners. Note that the Synapse 2.0's eula includes mention that razer can and will gather personally identifying information and computer-identifying information. Worse still, you must use those drivers to unlock the mouse's extra functionality (profiles, extra buttons, custom cpis) - without logging in, you basically have a 3-button plug-n-play mouse at best.

As if I needed another reason to hate Razer. This is insane this is a mouse, this is a mouse you pay big money for (free services like FB are a tad more justified), the fact that you are then data mined is beyond comprehension. No one should be willing to tolerate this and no one should buy any mice from Razer if they are going to push these practices. It's not like their mice are good anyway, all but their first couple are for uninformed COD junkies.
um my razer imperator stores profiles on the mouse itself, why would you want to bother with making a account and logging into a website to get your profile, just use the profiles stored on the mouse itself just hit the profile switcher buttons, you don't even need drivers to switch once you've set
I'd be more worried about the government than razer, also your government doesn't need you to have a razer mouse to look at what you're doing when they have your ISPs in their pocket
Glad that I only got their mouse pad. The rest are from Logitech (mostly), Ducky, IBM and the other now-ceased company which I've yet to receive the keyboard made by them.
Why would I want to? I wouldn't. This applies to the *new* razer mouses (taipan, ouroborous), which apparently don't store profiles in their memory and *do* require synapse 2.0.
Also, the government doing bad things does not change the fact of razer doing bad things.
They're really pushing this new software though. Just to find drivers for my Death Adder BE, I had to search for the legacy drivers and it wasn' t as easy as you would think to find.
