Which do you think is more suitable for FPS gaming?
Depends. Are you more of a palm, claw, or fingertip grip?
Personally I think the Rival is more of a palm grip mouse and the DA, despite being a large-ish mouse, is more of a claw / fingertip grip. This is due to where the grips are placed. On the Rival, the entire mouse is coated in rubber and the sides have bumps, so there's tons of grip and it makes it very easy to palm. The DA has small rubber grips on the sides where your fingertips can go, but the top and part of the sides is that hydrophobic bs and it's kind of slippery, which makes using a palm grip kind of difficult imo.
Also the buttons on the Rival are better. They're a little stiffer and much quieter. The buttons on the DA are really light and are much easier to press on accident.
I like the Rival a lot more. There's just TONS of grip. But I also use a palm grip, so if you don't palm then you might not like it.
Neither of them are necessarily better than the other.
Thank you for the detailed answer, definitely getting the Rival
Typically the negatives given for the rival are the stiffer switches, the non braided cable and that the rubber coating discolors a bit easily. The cable and switches for me were a big positive though. I don't think I ever had an issue with an accidental click or the cable catching with that mouse while I had it.
Just wanna throw this up, after a year and a half of using my DeathAdder 2013, the scroll button stopped working. I remapped it to another button, so it wasn't that big of a deal, but when I upgrade my mouse in the near future, I might think twice about getting another Razer mouse...
That might just be me and my bad luck, but I just wanna give a little headsup to those thinking about the DeathAdders =]
I own both as well as a old Death adder and minox - my fav is the new Deathadder
No problem. I hope you like it. I actually use a Naga 2014 as my daily driver right now because I've been on a WoW binge recently.
But for every other game I play the Rival is my favorite.
Deathadder is shit. It is so cheaply build. I have the chroma model and I am returning it. The precision and such is fine, the shape is great. The cheap plastic feel is nothing like my old beloved diamondback 3G from Razer which felt much more solid and didn't have an issue in 7-8 years of use. This one have started to double click after 3 months.
