Hey Community been a while since i did a review!
So today im going to do a sort of tech review for a recent piece of hardware i purchased. The Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.
So i was watching the Windows 8 guides on Tek Syndicate and i heard the keyboard clicking, and am a big fan of clicky keyboards, i find the clicking sound soo addictive to hear.
Anyways i have been after the keyboard for a couple of months and finally got the money to do so yesterday so i thought id share my thoughts with you guys.
Well its a keyboard so yeah, but it is a little different, it has macro buttons on the left hand side which allow for quick use of any recorded macros, which is a nice feature, i have yet to set any up.
the keyboard has a back light on it with different settings, off, dim, normal, bright. and even on dim the lights are visible with lights on. the keyboard also has a pulse option which makes the back lights turn on and off, rather nice to see also, goes well when my computer is asleep :)
The keys are noisy, and i love that, the cherry is a blue MX merchanical switch, and if you have ever watched linus and his theory of you type faster with these sorts of keyboards, he is correct after getting used to this keyboard i was typing a lot faster than on any membrain keyboard.
They have a FN (fuction key) which allows you to set you keyboard into gaming mode, and depending on your settings it will do a number of things, from stop you from alt/tab out of games to minimising the game windows which can actually help during games, the amount of times i have pressed the windows key is insane...
Anyways also the FN key can cycle through the the lighting options (FN+F12) which is very nice.there are also some media keys using the FN key, so you can alter the volume levels, stop/pause/play music and change tracks i find this useful when am playing minecraft so i dont have to tab out every few mins.
One thing i was dispointed about was the fact i cant change the LED colours, i was hoping i could change it to green, as i hope to make all my system green in the future, but still the blue on it is nice and does stand out in all indoor lighting conditions.
Again the keys are using Blue MX Cherrys, these are very reponsive, you dont even have to fully press down to get an input.
the cable is covered in a nice sleve and to be honest its very nice, i like to see these with wires instead of the rubbery/plastic they normally have, although you are pay the price for this board.
The price of this is around $113/£103 although it varies from vendor. PC World in UK sell the keyboard at £109 although CCL sell it at £103.
so this is a brief overview of this keyboard, i plan to do a video review to help give an better idea on the keyboard.
Feel free to post any questions and i will try to awnser them :)
[Sorry for bad grammar and spelling i am tired and it is past midnight here in the UK :)]
