Rate the build I am about to make?

So, in the next few weeks (about 2, maybe 3) I will be putting together a gaming computer, and I would love it if some people could give me some input, I plan to have it be around 1500, don't want to go above 1600 really.

-While I know that the case is quite expensive I plan to re-use the case for quite a while and I am in love with the Haf X case, so that is why I am planning to pay a little extra to get it. And also a bit of a ocd thing, I can't leave any of the front i/o ports not working, that bugs me way too much. :)

-Don't really need an i7, games don't use hyperthreading and I doubt I will be doing much but gaming and normal things (internet, word documents, ect.)

-I want 2 660 ti's in sli, but at the current price I plan to maybe get one down the road if I feel like I would like more preformance, if this somehow was able to fit it great, I doubt it though so no big deal.

Thanks so much in advance!

if all you do is game, you don't need more than 8 gigs of ram,

and if you don't watch alot of blu-ray movies, just get a dvd burner.

with the money you save with that you can get the sapphire radeon 7970, which, with the beta drivers, will blow the 680 out of the water

you could easily get a 680 in this price point.

The only question i have about that is that I have seen benchmarks between the 660 ti and 7950, and they seem fairly even, I was only going w/ the 7950 becuase I have a few friends who love it, and I also have loved nvidia cards

thise were tested with older drivers, the beta drivers will give you at least 10 fps more. and I edited that to suggest droppin the blu-ray and getting a 7970

I think I am going to stick with the gtx 660 ti, I may think about the 680 though, personally I love nvidia cards, not really a fanboy, but I would definitlly prefer nvidia. Also I lowered it to 8 gigs of ram, thanks

Edit: can't drop the bluray, I watch too many bluray movies and things

dude, amd KILLS nvidia. and if you use the blu ray, then ok. and cards are chaeaper and perform better than nvidia

The pricepoints of the 680 and 7970 and the same as far as I can tell, both at about 450 dollars, and honostly, I looked at a bunch of benchmarks, and both seem fairly equal :/   I fell like this is just too much like cpu with the intel vs amd, both have strong points, it is just something everyone agrees to disagree on :P

yeah, I would have to agree with you, everyone has their favorites, and some defend their favorites quite vigorusly...

and the sapphire 7970 is $399, and again, those benchmarks are using the old drivers. some people say it's a 70% improvement in fps, and while that's pretty exagerated, it's still like 20% better, and they were already a little ahead of nvidia.

Ok, well thanks for that link, I will definitly think it over, however it is something I want to think about for a little while before switching over from the gtx 600's, and agian, thanks so much for your help :)

id probably go with the ghz edition of the 7970 like this one

Oh, another question I have is am I going to be able to use that processor with that motherboard BIOS, without updating it I mean, I don't have another cpu to flash the bios with, so i need it to be able to start up with that cpu

Change the PSU for a 550w if you're going for an nVidia card, 650w for AMD.

750w is overkill even for SLI with the 660-670

hahahahahahahahaha cheezus crust.

Yea, I might do that, the only reason I have the 750w is for future upgrades to better more powerfull cards down the line, I may just keep the 750w to have the headroom, plus it really is only a 20 dollar increse which isn't too bad, not sure what I will do yet
