Raspberry Pi, ownCloud and USB keys

Hey,

After I read the news that potentially 7 million username and password combinations for dropbox were stolen it got me thinking about my own dropbox account.

For a while I have been toying with the idea to use a Raspberry Pi, ownCloud, and 2 to 4 USB keys to create my own solution.

I am just curious what you guys think of this. Obviously the performance, and redundancy of a dropbox or google drive won't be the same. But I thought it could be a cool project to attempt.

I figured I would start off with  Raspberry Pi B+ (which I already have experience with), load ownCloud on it, and then use USB keys as the storage space.

I have been looking into using USB keys in a RAID configuration to provide at least some data redundancy. It looks like it is possible, but I don't really know if it is advisable to use USB keys in the manor.

I am only considering it at this point and would love to hear some other peoples thoughts on this idea and how practical of a solution you think it might be.

Cheers
